garbled print from gimp

Whenever I've tried to print anything from the gimp I get a page 
starting with:

%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%Creator: Print plug-in V4.2 for GIMP/Gimp-Print 4.2.7 (15 Jul 2004)

...it goes on with more details and gives pages of:

Anyone else seeing this problem? I'm using an epson stylus cx3200 usb 
multifunction printer which has been working flawlessly until recently.
