Broadly speaking, not much is designed specifically for Darwin. There's 
plenty of ports to Darwin/OS X, including gnome, kde etc, and these run 
on OS X, generally through the X11 window server.

Two places to look for such ports:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/ - Fink, apt-get for mac os x
http://darwinports.org/ - *BSD like portage.
