Howto replace my ES1371 driver

My autodetected sound card Ensoniq 1371 is not working properly with
the driver shiped with Ubuntu 5.10.

Sometimes I start my computer and the sound works ok, sometimes not.

How can I replace the ES 1371 driver in Ubuntu????
