Best tools for making DVD Video?

Thanks for the tips, I'll try out those tools.

regarding avidemux, does it have the capacity to generate a list of
timecodes that can be used for chapter marks later in the dvd creation
process?

Also, what repository is it in?  I'm unable to find it using apt.
