As I said before: please point me to the documentation for ALSA.  I'd
*LOVE* to learn how to get sound working reliably on my system.  And to
get AC3 downmixed to stereo for that matter.  Sadly there's no
documentation of any worth for ALSA.  Or OSS, for that matter.  Just
lore locked away in bits and pieces in the minds of dozens of people who
may or may not share it.
