Well, Windows is back on the disk.

You misunderstand the whole Massada Complex people have when they're in
a minority group--any minority group--and see criticism. Anything that
isn't "<insert cause/product/whatever> is the greatest thing ever!" gets
automatically translated into "<insert cause/product/whatever> sucks
bowling balls through garden hoses!". You'll find advocates of
something as banal as Royal Crown Cola on mailing lists or online forums
acting in precisely the same way.
The fact that I said "Windows is back on the disk" has, you see, in this
case been translated to "Ubuntu is off the disk". Since that is the
message the advocates secretly expect (though they'd never admit to
this), they didn't see the part where I pointed out that Ubuntu still
has a prominent place on my hard drive. (How prominent? 10GB Windows
XP. 230GB to Linux partitions over all my storage devices.)
Basically, Sasha, you're dealing with fanaticism and you can't win
against fanatics in a reasoned debate. Don't bother trying. Fanatics
do, however, make wonderful exercises for killfile filters.
Anybody offended by the above characterisation, follow these two steps:
1. Ask yourself "am I offended on my own behalf"?
2. Ask yourself "am I offended on other people's behalf"?
If your answer to either question is "yes", please feel free to add the
email addresses below to your killfiles.
