I don't think you are going to find what you want.  Wolfram has a student
version that isn't very expensive ($130 as I recall).  You might want to
get that.  It works under Ubuntu with one caveat, wnck-applet starts
eating 100% of the CPU after you start Mathematica and you have to kill it
do get it to reset.  It isn't any trouble.  You kill it, it restarts, you
hit OK a few times, and everything goes on swimmingly.
