Acer travelmate 270 1.4gh - are they ubuntu friendly?

I've never used an Acer product, but I have heard some people say that their not  very good!  Ubuntu is supposed to run on just about every kind of computer.  I use on a Compaq with AMD 32-bit and I know others that using it on HP, Gateway, eMachines, and DELL.  They all seem to be doing fine!
