It is possible. See this link:

I used this for some time until I discovered it was interfering with
other programs.

I'm sorry, I don't remember which programs this effected, or how.
Probably programs that relied on sudo, gksudo, etc.

If it works for you, great! If you later decide you don't like it, it's
easy enough to set back to the original.
