You may try 'Automatix'

This is an automated installer with a GUI, you can install all the
basics through it and it does work on a fresh Ubuntu install.

I guess that first you'll have to enable the universe/multiverse
repositories 'this way' (http://ubuntuguide.org/#repositories) or 'this
way' (http://www.ubuntulinux.nl/source-o-matic).
