Has Ubuntu Replaced Windows on Your Box?

I would like ti completely remove windows form my life BUT 



I run a media server at home and have to convert XVID to MPEG , have
seen nothing in linux that allows me to do that never mind that the
video server head is tied to a windows box , that i would have to
recode to a linux solution.. I work for a very large international chip
maker that has accesss to all kinds of internal software tools and even
their experts scratch thir heads at my requirements. So I have an
ubuntu/pclinux/win64 box

AMD 64 Dual CPU = Video Conversion Only ~ Win 64 beta 

AMD 64 Semperon Win 32 Pro - Video Server 

AMD 32 (XP 2800) Wifes computer

Intel 1.6Ghz Mobile laptop 



Ubuntu runs great now that I have figured out the external HD share
with Windows issues , I boot to windows every other week for the
software upgrade Thursday !
