1) open a terminal 
  (in "hoary" -> Applications -> SystemTools -> Terminal) 
  (in "breezy" -> Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal)

2) type in : sudo dpkg -i msttcorefonts*deb
   and then type in your own (account's) password
