Linksys Wireless-G (WPC54G v.3)

I've got a Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter (Model WPC54G ver. 3)
which is a cardbus card.  I've just upgraded my Toshiba Satellite
(1800-S253) from Ubuntu 4.10 to 5.10.  I was sort of hoping that Breezy
Badger would just recognize the adapter and I'd be all set but that
didn't happen.  So, SHOULD this card have been recognized?  Is there a
way to get it to be recognized?

I understand that ndiswrapper is an option but wanted to know, first, if
there are other (no cost) options.  Also, I'm pretty new to the whole
wireless thing so either details or a pointer to the details (rather
than just "use ndiswrapper") would be very helpful.  Thanks.
