Firefox is default browser, but won't open a specified page

Ubuntu Users,
Following advice on this list, I set FireFox 1.0.5, downloaded directly
from Mozilla, as my default browser,. I did this by going to System |
Preferences | Preferred Applications and specifying the path to FireFox.
There is a small problem, though. If, for example, I click on a link
from within Evolution, FireFox opens, but not to the URL I clicked on.
It just opens up to a blank page (which is what I have set as the
default home page).
Is there some extra setting or perameter I need in order to pass the
URL to FireFox when I click on it from within another application?

Any advice would be much appreciated.
