But, as others have pointed out, not everyone has these problems with
Firefox - so it may not be Ubuntu's fault.

Certainly, I know that disabling ipv6 in Firefox helps some people greatly
- and that is an issue with certain badly informed ISPs whose ipv6
implementation is wrong or non-existent.

It's worth opening Firefox and typing

about:config

in the URL bar, then entering ipv6 in the filter/search field. Then set

network.dns.disableIPv6      user set   boolean   true

and see if that helps.
