Play a DVD to slow

Hi,

I have instaled ubuntu 5.10 on a laptop Acer 1691 (1,6 Ghz centrino, 512mb,
ATI X600), and i have configured fglrx 3D acceleration, that works fine.
But, in i try play a DVD or divx with vlc, mplayer, totem is to slow.

Any sugestion?
