latex margins

I just looked at the pdf you posted. When I print it, I get a 1 inch
left margin and the text width is 6.5in, so with a 1in right margin,
that makes 8.5in all together, which is the width of letter size paper,
I think? But the margins look uneven on the screen, which perhaps
suggests the paper size in the pdf viewer is incorrect, but presumably
you get the uneven margin problem when you print as well?

It's all a little confusing!
