Desktop recorders?

I'd recommend:

x11vnc (http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/) with vnc2swf
(http://www.unixuser.org/~euske/vnc2swf/).  Also, you can use vncrec
and then dump to image, and then encode using ffmpeg to get to
whatever format you'd like.
