Mysql deb, how was it configured.

I have installed mysql-server-4.1 using apt-get install mysql-server.  I
want to create an email server and need to configure mysql with some
parameters:

./configure \

--prefix=/usr/local/mysql \

--enable-assembler \

--with-innodb \

--without-debug

 

 

How can I tell what parameters where used with the package that I
installed?  What do I need to do in order to use these parameters
without disrupting the install the I have?
