firefox upgrade problems

i noticed that ubuntu isnt running the latest version (1.5) of
firefox, so i downloaded and installed the version off of their
website and changed my default browser to it.  the problem im having
is now when i click on a web link, it opens firefox, but it doenst go
to the link i clicked, it just sits at my home page.  is there anyway
to get that back?
