Gnome started using /usr/share/autostart which KDE has used for ages,
so suddenly various things get started regarless of which desktop
environement was starting.  The changes I made this morning should
have fixed it, please do sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get
dist-upgrade and let me know if any problems remain.
