there may be a better way to do this, but what I have done it the past is
find the icon I want and then
#sudo cp /usr/share/groovy/image.png /usr/share/pixmaps
and if necessary (?)
#sudo chmod 755 /usr/share/pixmaps/image.png
then I can use it.
