You have to create the file /etc/ppp/ip-down.d/local
- -------------------- /etc/ppp/ip-down.d/local ------------------>
# The date and time
DATE=$(date +"%d.%m.%Y %H:%M:%S")
# Log some data
# Format: date time onlinetime [s] bytes send bytes reveived
/bin/echo $DATE $CONNECT_TIME $BYTES_SENT $BYTES_RCVD >> /var/log/ppp-usage
<-------------------- /etc/ppp/ip-down.d/local ------------------
sudo chmod -c 754 /etc/ppp/ip-down.d/local
Then you can try it with:
$ onlinecalc
This solution is presented by Gerhard Gaußling from the german ML.
