Is Ubuntu giving up on the PPC platform?

I don't read this list every day, but it seems to me that MOST of the
time the information here is relevant across platform. (Application
support type issues.) For issues that are very powerPC kernel
specific, I see much more focused responses on the debian-powerpc
list. For those that are kindof in-between (like "help me play flash
on ppc") there are some good places on the ubuntu forums. But I agree
there's no one place for ppc folks to commiserate or whatever.
I think you probably feel like a lone voice here only because there
are so few PPC users relative to the rest of the Ubuntu population.
As for the Apple Intel stuff, I contend it's somewhat of a red
herring... if you're worried about Ubuntu support of Intel Macs, don't
buy one (yet) if you want to run Ubuntu. If you're worried about
support for your newish PPC Mac, well, linux will almost always be
months or years behind in hardware support. In the meantime you can
enjoy full support for OS X -- until Apple drops support for PPC, and
by then maybe you'll find a version of linux that does what you like
and you can continue using your hardware.
For me, the greatest thing about Ubuntu (and Debian PPC) is I can run
very new versions of things like Firefox on hardware that is very
functional even though Apple dropped support long ago. My 1998
PowerBook G3 runs great, though it wasn't easy to get started with
Ubuntu. On my wife's two-year-old iBook, well, OS X runs fine, and
maybe I'll install Ubuntu on it eventually.
