Setting up IRDA on a ThinkPad R50.

I don't have /dev/ircomm0. I noticed that the irda-utils puts a rule in 
/etc/devfs/conf.d. There also doesn't appear to be anything mentioned in 
the udev configs though. Is there anything else I should look at?
