Actually, yes, I did miss that message. Not sure why. Sometimes I seem
to not get messages from mailing lists.
In any case, thank you for reposting it. I went and checked out the
packages Dan had references. My install attempt looked like this:
dave at ubuntu1:~/Desktop$ sudo dpkg -i gimp-2.2.8_2.2.8-1_i386.deb Password:
Selecting previously deselected package gimp-2.2.8.

Unpacking gimp-2.2.8 (from gimp-2.2.8_2.2.8-1_i386.deb) ...

trying to overwrite `/usr/local/bin/gimp-remote-2.2', which is also in
package gimp

"Broken pipe"? What happened?
