Lost all received mail in Evolutionl

I using 'Evolution' for email.

I can't see anything in any mailbox but the number of as yet unread
messages is indicated in each mailbox and  a 'properties' check an all
mailboxes shows the number of previously read messages..they're just
isn't visible.

I'm not sure how this happened except that I noticed it after I moved a
message from the 'Inbox' to the 'drafts' box for editing and later
forwarding.  

What do I have to do to get things back to normal?

PS  I'm not sure if I can receive your help with ubuntu's Evolution.
Will have to use Windows, drat it.
