Why is it increasingly the case that this Automatix rubbish gets
floated out with every request for help with installing/updating items
in ubuntu?

The original writer wanted to upgrade Firefox, and seemed to have good
technical reasons for so doing. I didn't note that they wanted to
install a blizzard of different programs, most of which seem to be p2p
kack.
