Which version of the acroread package do you have installed? Post the
output of 'dpkg -s acroread', please.

I think you might not have the latest version from breezy/multiverse.
Please try reinstalling the package.

I really prefer xpdf over acroread, I find it less annoying. From time
to time, I use acroread because of it's better search function and
because of some pdf forms.
