Webcam software reccomendation...?

My Creative Webcam NX is recognized by Kubuntu Breezy and I'd like to poll you 
people for software recommendations for monitoring & taking single frames, if 
possible.  The proprietary software allows snapshots and I am hoping to find 
something compatible for Linux, if possible.  If not, I'll go for what I can 
get.
