Done that and the CD is still not seen in the drive. Even been into
Kcontrol and tried to set up /dev/hdcand /dev/hdb in there. Neither
of them work with audio CDs and the CDROM drive won't work with a
data CD either. I'm confused. I used to get this on SuSE 6.3 to
7.0.

Hmm....

# ls -l /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2006-12-19 16:22 /dev/cdrom -> hdc
# ls -l /dev/hdb
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 3, 64 2006-12-19 16:22 /dev/hdb

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
# /dev/hda5 -- converted during upgrade to edgy
UUID=5897e883-d0e1-44de-a12e-c23c9f0e90fd none swap sw 0 0
/dev/hdc        /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 user,noauto     0       0
/dev/hdb        /media/cdrom1     udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0        0

Seems a bit strange to me :) Maybe I should swap /dev/hdc
to  /media/cdrom1 and /dev/hdb to /media/cdrom0 ?  It's almost as
though the CDROM (cdrom0) wasn't detected when the software was
installed and the CD-Writer (cdrom1) was.

Anyone any ideas ?
