Where are my partitions?

Why is this so difficult to understand? I must know the Linux names of 
the Windows partitions in order to mount them. I cannot know the names 
of the Windows partitions if I can't see them in a list somewhere. That 
information used to be readily available in earlier versions of Ubuntu. 
Where has it gone? It is NOT in my home folder. It is not among the 
various collections of folders. Is there a list somewhere? There used to 
be an application that showed the partitions as well. I have not been 
able to find it.
