Here are some more you could try:

Zapping
TVtime

I have had issues with both of them, so eventually I moved to:

"xdtv"

Its XawTV on steroid, nearly perfect for my needs. Only "issue" I have
is that XawTV switches channels instantly, whereas xdtv takes almost
one second to switch, which makes it difficult/painful to quickly go
round all the channels. But really, I am very picky here ! ;-)

xdtv is not in the repositories, but you can grab a package on the
project's website:

Here is the direct link to the pacakge:

http://nicolas.estre.free.fr/ubuntu/dists/dapper/experimental/binary-i386/xdtv_2.4.0pre0-1_i386.deb

it's the latest version, but it's for Dapper (6.06), but I run it on
Edgy and it works just fine. When you double-click on the package to
install it, it will need to pull a couple dependencies which are in the
"Universe" repository, so make sure you have it enabled before
proceeding.

I don't know if xdtv will work better for you (since I don't have
your board, and didn't have picture quality problems when I was using
xawtv, unlike you), but it will take 30 seconds of your time to give it
a try, so can't hurt ! ;o)
