TV card software?

I have a Leadtek TV card which is recognised okay by Ubuntu 6.10 
(running Gnome) but I have not been overwhelmed by the software I have 
tried. Xawtv gives a flickering picture but with audio working okay and 
Kdetv gives a superb picture but I cannot discover how to turn on the 
sound!

Any other software suggestions welcomed (and also a clue as to where the 
kdetv  'inline' sound 'On' switch is hiding) please.
