network printer

Recently I had excellent tuition on how to set up a network printer by
editing /etc/cups/cups.d/ports.conf. Two days ago I changed from 6.06.1
to 6.10 so, I assumed no problem. To my chagrin I find that there is no
folder called ports.conf. I don't want to risk messing up my machine so
advice again please.

Do I simply use the editor to make a file called ports.conf with
Listen*:631 and add it to the cups.d folder. Then follow with
sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys.

I anxiously await your advice.

Norman
