laptop HP nx6325 amd64 x2 automatix2 media codecs

Hi All,

I am trying to run Microsoft based media codecs on ubuntu amd64 6.10 Edgy on
HP Compaq nx6325 to no avail.
All codecs were installed via automatix2.

Any hint/advice/RTFM pointer is very welcome

P.S: could it be that 32-bit MS codecs (wma, wmv)  do not run on 64-bit
machine ?  The MPEG codec works OK
