laptop HP Pavillion dv6105us (dv600 series) - running live CD 6.10

Hi all,

I am not able to run ubuntu 6.10 on aptop HP Pavilion dv6105us (dv600
series).
Two error message appear on the screen:
- error loading firmware for the wireless card  (I guess this should not be
fatal)
- can not create/mount file system  ( this message is the killer)

Any hint how to proceed from here ?

P.S.:  KNOPPIX 5.01  starts and runs with a flying colors
