Is it crazy to buy a MacBook?

According to Apple, their MacBooks start at $1099 (US dollars). You
mean that $300 laptops are comparable to those? My dad will be a bit
upset, since I just bought him a Toshiba Satellite for 720€ (euros,
just in case it comes out garbled). Teacher discounts don't get into
this discussion, unless you can offer them to us for free (I suppose I
could also answer "I'm sure some Apple executives and PR people give
away MacBooks for free if you happen to be the right person", but
that's irrelevant too).

I wouldn't buy a MacBook and then delete Mac OS X off of it, I'd use
it and learn from it. So I don't think it's very wise to do what the
OP talks about. But yes, the Apples are very nice machines.
