Actually, the 2600N does 600x600 dpi and print pages at 8 ppm color
and around 8 ppm black. The quality is there, but the speed
isn't.Add in the cost of black, plus 3 color toner cartridges that
cost on average of $75.00 US, not much value. The 2605DN is a tad
better with 10 ppm color and 12 ppm black. 1200x1200 dpi black, and
the same 600x600 dpi in color. Toner costs are the same.
Personally, I'd go with the 2600DN if I needed a color laserjet.
Since color isn't printed here that often, at least the toner
doesn't dry up like a inkjet.
