[solved] gnome panel

Hi,

I've been bugging the list recently about my
problem of gnome crashing: when logging in
the panel flickers, halting the whole starting
process. I tried reinstalling gnome and gconf
and no luck.

It turned out to be the problem of my
customized gnome-panel was frustrated by
some problematic applets. *After quitting X,
and deleting ~/.gconf/apps/panel, it is back
to normal. *This is a general way to get your
panel working again after it is messed up
somehow. This also means that the gnome panel
is very unstable, but lucky you can always get
the default panel back by doing the above.
