Your problem description lacks information regarding which sound card(s)
you're attempting to use for the various applications. If you've not
added any module names manually to /etc/modules _and_ haven't added any
module parameters to /etc/modprobe.d/*, then your symptoms are likely to
be caused by different card orders. Above, your onboard Intel is the
default sound device for all OSS-emulated applications (since /dev/dsp
is used for card 0).
