HOW do you turn off your Ubuntu boxes?

I tried the above method but it didn't work.

What I did come across was on the Ubutnu Forum (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=290713) which suggested adding 'apm power_off=1' in /etc/modules. This seems to have worked for me.
