Could this be an issue with the kernel not supporting my chipset (P965
I think?) If so I would expect to start seeing this question a lot in
the coming weeks?

I'm thinking that after reading:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=228151&highlight=GA-965P-DS3
and thinking I may be being affected by this bug:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.17/+bug/57502

I guess I should submit my own bug at this point and let the
developers figure it out.
