yeah, interestingly, this doesn't work for me at all.  i get the error
mentioned above instead.



howeveer, i remembered that i still have a windows partition on my
machine -- first time i've needed it! -- and booted into it.  worked
fine.  my machine has intel vt technology, so i will try to get that
partition running under xen.  not quite sure how to do it....
