I have to acknowledge that re-reading his posts with a cooler head, they
don't seem that bad as I took them.

In any case, being a Debian user for 11 years now, I thought it was too
much patronizing to have somebody starting with 'linux is volunteer
software', assuming it's just a battery problem AND then telling me to
switch distro.

I honestly would have another distro installed, if I knew Ubuntu would
give me problems with a Dell laptop. But now, backing up the data and
re-installing would be just too much hassle. Point is: it takes time to
switch distros as well...

So for the moment, I'm not touching the BIOS settings in order not to
trigger a BIOS check, and hoping to go as far as possible with that.
