GRASS on UBUNTU

Hallo, I'm really new to UBUNTU world but I know a little bit to
configure and install a programme on LINUX. Now I've tried four time to
install GRASS 6.1 on my UBUNTU 6.06 LTS with both GDAL and PROJ and also
the missing libraries but continue to not work. I don't know how to do.
I've search with Synaptic too but the search program doesn't find
anything connected to grass. I hope that someone could help me.
