I'm interested too - and did a bit of googling about
sysctl.conf settings for adsl2 - 2+  etc. ( see below )

The URL I post below seems to take the view that only the receive max
actually needs changing, since the wmem appears to refer to the upstream,
which is typically much less on adsl ( the writer thinks the default here
is enough, apparently - don't ask me, I know very little about adsl... but
it made sense to me. )

I'm not sure if this is right, according to the page I link below. See

So far, I've tried the settings from that page - can't say I've noticed any
dramatic difference though ;-) (My actual downstream sync speed is usually
around 15-15.5 Mbits/sec here,, with upstream usually 831 KB/s )
