Has Ubuntu Replaced Windows on Your Box?

I can tell you that Ubuntu passes the "ready for Nana" test. Her needs
are:

- Use a web browser for online shopping, possibly banking.

- Use e-mail.

- Play an occasional game of Solitare.

I started with our Dell Dimension XPS 350... a Windows 98 box when
built. I was not willing to invest the *required* admin'ing of a home
pc with Win98... and what is the value-add in a upgrade to XP Home when
compared to the feature set of a modern Linux distro?

She's been satisfied by Ubuntu so far... even told me it was "nice and
modern." Speaking of that, when you switch between WinXP and Ubuntu,
which one feels "nice and modern?" I find WinXP kind of creaky, with
lots of same old annoyances... why wouldn't Ubuntu replace Windows on
you box?
