Using Glade with Perl under Ubuntu

I know this isn't directly relevant, and I have also asked on the
Glade-users forum, but I'm asking on the off-chance that this may be an
Ubuntu-related issue.

I am running Glade 2.12.1 under Dapper to generate data entry forms for
use with Perl applications.  I can easily get Glade to generate
appropriate code in C, but I have a problem when I try to convert this
code to Perl using the glade2perl utility

Eg, when I run % glade2perl project3.glade 2. the process encounters an
error and generates the following diagnostic in the log file:
