Well, it seemingly hibernates but upon restart system crashes when
xserver starts.

I removed splash from grub options at boot time and got following error
message on the console during startup:

[.some numbers..] atkbd.c: Spurious ACK on isa0060iserio0. Some program,
like XFree 86, might be trying access hardware directly
[.some numbers..] Stuck??
[.some numbers..] Inquiring remote APIC #1
[.some numbers..]...APIC #1 ID: 01000000
[.some numbers..]...APIC #1 VERSION: 80050010
[.some numbers..]...APIC #1 SPIV: 000000ff
[.some numbers..] Error taking cpu1 up: -22
[.some numbers..] Kernel panic - not syncing: Not enough cpus
[.some numbers..]

Well, I am using kernel 2.6.15-26-k7. It seems second cpu is not
activated and thus kernel hangs because in restored data two cups are
mentioned.

I will try with it out with a one-cpu kernel and report here. But my
preference would be to have everything working with a kernel which
utilises both CPUs.

Regards,
